So last night, right after I finished the 30 for 30 on John Calipari’s legacy, I got the chance to listen to DAMN. As many know, Kendrick’s music has gotten me through plenty of hard times, but nonetheless, every time I hear a new song from him, I radiate. I am not going to devote this post on Kendrick, because you all can do that yourself. Additionally, this New Music Friday hasn’t provided us with a spectacular amount of anticipated albums. So, instead, I am going to give you some new music you should listen to AND music that is relevant to what’s going on right now. Enjoy.
DAMN. by Kendrick Lamar
Another great album with thrilling ghetto tales and sensational production work. Although, I am still confused by his “GOD.” track. It is very confusing and not like KDOT.
SOUR SOUL: BadBadNotGood/Ghostface Killa![]()
BadBadNotGood has production credit on one of Kendrick’s new tracks, so you should definitely give this album a shot. Plus, who doesn’t love Ghostface KIlla?
99.9% by KAYTRANADA
One of the most highly acclaimed production works of 2016. Winner of the 2016 Polaris Music Prize, KAYTRANADA has resurfaced as the
production golden boy.
Just listen to Terrace Martin
When I was working at the Troubadour one night during the Grammy’s, he came out and performed and I remembered that distinct saxophone sound. Go back and listen to all of his features on TDE affiliated artists. He has some major production credit on DAMN.
I’ll be back next week. Peace and Love.
