Every year, I listen to enough records this year that should make my head spin. Don’t worry, it is an activity that I take a joy in doing every day. 2018 brought a lovely collection of music ranging from every genre. More and more groups from the 90’s are rejoining, more emerging artists from every genre, and more messages being relayed across the most common medium. Topics ranging from the aftermath of a Trump presidency, #MeToo movement, and pop cultural debacles have taken place of the nucleus for inspiration. Political and social matters have always been iterated through a musical point of view, but the trivial surroundings of 2018 seem to shed more light than usual. Throughout this list, you will begin to pick up on some trends and themes as you shuffle through each record. Some positive, some negative, some even in a satirical shade illustrating depreciating alliance for their respective countries. nonetheless, each project is tasteful, full of raw emotion, and obviously, explosive in composition. Without further ado, here is the top 100, pt. 1.
